Wattle-Blackwood ( Acacia melanoxylon )
is an extraordinarily beautiful timber that is highly regarded by fine cabinet makers. Engraved for boxes, desk signs, bar signs, and picture frames
American Cherry Prunus serotina (Rosaceae)
American Cherry uses include furniture, cabinet making, quality joinery, turnery, carving and musical instruments. beautiful detail and colour with laser engraving.
Bamboo Natural and carbonised
Bamboo perennial evergreens in the true grass family Poaceae, subfamily Bambusoideae
Red Gum (Eucalyptus camaldulensis)
While the timber is useful for heavy construction, flooring, framing and fencing, the species often suffers from form problems, making utilisable logs hard to produce. laser engraved exterior signs, and timber boxes all show up great detail.
Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata)
Jarrah is rated Class 2 durability (on a scale of 4) meaning that the timber possesses a high natural resistance to decay, termite and borer attack and can be expected to give long service life under all normal conditions including ground contact.
Tasmanian Ash Oak (Eucalyptus regnans, E. elegatensis, E. obliqua)
Tree trunks are free of branches to a considerable height. Timber is good for laser cut and engraved boxes for wedding glasses.
European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior)
Uses: Sports goods, tool handles, furniture parts, road vehicles and agricultural implements, boat-building, fancy turnery.
European Beech (Fagus sylvatica)
tablets and thin slices of Beech were probably the earliest European books within our present memory. Good for laser engraving. used for boxes particularly for engraved glasses.
Silky Oak (Cardwellia sublimis)
The trunk, usually without buttresses, is normally straight. Well know for fleck effect in quarter cut. Desk signs and timber engraved boxes are made with silky oak.
Queensland Maple (Flindersia brayleyana)
Restricted in its distribution to northern Queensland rainforests between Townsville and the Windsor Tableland.
Black Walnut ( Juglans nigra L )
The wood has a fine even texture and a rather coarse grain Fine detail engraves with laser.
Brush Box ( Lophostemon confertus )
often seen in feature flooring due to colour contrast. Has a natural wax feel in unfinished timber. engraved boxes are a great look.
