The Details of Professional Engraving services

When it comes to offering engraving services today, there are two main methods of engraving that are dominating the industry. These are laser and R&I rotary engraving. It is true that there are those who still stick to the traditional pantograph machine but in order to meet today’s market demands the two main methods are applied.

Laser engraving

This is a marking method that is also referred to as the non-contact method. This means that there is little wear and tear to the tools used. The marks made are not only clean but they are crisp and permanent as well. If engravers want to do their work fast then this is the method applied. It is also a method suitable for engraving photos and graphics.

Rotary engraving

This kind of engraving is done when dealing with metals whether coated or not. It is also used to make deep cuts in all sorts of materials like stainless steel or plastic. The look created is beautiful to the eye and has a good feel when touched. Engravers go for this method if they want equipment that is a bit affordable.

The two methods mentioned have advantages that makes them unique and impressive. They can engrave different materials to produce customized and personalised items. So which of the two methods can be considered to be the best? Well as much as every engraving services providers might have their favourite method, each of the two complement each other.

Jobs

The most commonly used material in engraving is acrylic. This is especially true when it comes to gifts and awards. It is easy to mistake acrylic for glass but it is actually much lighter and stronger. Laser engraving is seen to be the best method of engraving this material as it results in faster, simple and cost effective delivery. The R&I method can be used but it will not be able to get the devil in the details plus it is a bit slower.

Colour

Engraved images can be filled with colour acrylic paints to change effect of result. Today this can be further enhanced with Colour print directly into the engraving or on substrate surface using UV cured inks. Inks are efficiently cured with LED source UV to cure with minimum heat to the substrate. Combining engraving and printing expands the dimension of what can be achieved.
